PVSTOP UK LTD is a Renewable Energy Safety Company, focused on making the transition to a clean energy economy as safe as possible.

What we do

PVStop is a temporary light blocking coating applied to PV panels to safely de-energise all PV systems in an emergency. Additional benefits include being fire retardant, non-flammable, non-conducting, anti-arcing, non-toxic and non-polluting. Post incident and when safe to do so, the protective coating can be peeled off the panels, restoring the PV system to operational use, with the used coating disposed of as environmentally friendly waste.

What we can help you with

Solar PV panels, when exposed to light, continue to generate dangerous levels of DC electricity. Whether the PV system is the source of ignition or indirectly involved (source of ignition is elsewhere) first responders will not risk their lives to protect assets, in effect forcing a defensive position and allowing the property to burn whilst protecting adjacent properties against fire spread.

Our solution

PVStop provides a simple, safe and effective method to de-energise all solar PV systems when compromised by an emergency incident. Our solution focuses on Tier 1 of the Hierarchy of Risk Controls by eliminating the Risk at source, and can be favourably compared with Engineering Controls at Tier 3, and PPE at Tier 5.

Benefits of working with us

The cost benefit is that in the absence of our solution, there is no safe and effective way to mitigate the risks to first responders, they are forced into using large volumes of water on an electrical fire and risk re-ignition when dry or managing a controlled burn.

Case study

Direct quote from London Fire Brigade in using PVStop:
"The application was easy and reassuring to both the operational crews knowing the panels would be safe to handle and also the owner of the property as we informed them that their panels would not be damaged by the coating. The solution bedded into service quickly and easily, simplicity is key as Firefighters cannot be expected to understand the technical aspects of solar systems. They need to make safe as quickly as possible for the scene assessment and operate efficiently knowing there is no risk to their team members. This solution does exactly what it says on the tin."
