About this event

We all make plans. But what happens when those plans go spectacularly wrong?

Stephen knows a thing or two about that. With a career that has zig-zagged from engineer to project manager, strategy director, environmentalist, senior lecturer, and entrepreneur, he’s seen just about every way things can unravel. Today, he’s an international speaker and consultant on managing change and he’s not afraid to admit that the most powerful lessons come when the wheels fall off.

We will explore:

  • How to avoid a crisis in the first place
  • How to ride the storm when it hits
  • The magic of the 3Rs—and why they matter
  • Managing the aftermath and coming out stronger

About our speaker:
Stephen Carver
Senior Lecturer of project & programme management and crisis management
Cranfield University

Stephen has had an eclectic career spanning Engineer, Project Manager, Strategy Director, Environmentalist, Senior Lecturer and Entrepreneur. During all that time he has discovered that plans can sometimes go wrong…! He is an international speaker and consultant in managing change. When Stephen joined Cranfield University School of Management from Industry as lecturer in Project Management, he realised that the MBAs were not taught anything about what to do if things go wrong - Crisis Management. He set about running a course that would put them in front of real journalists in a real TV studio – the results were hilarious and horrific in equal measure. Speak to any MBA from Cranfield and they will tell you how they never have forgotten what they learnt in that TV studio that day

Come prepared for insights that are practical. Because sometimes, when the best laid plans hit the fan, that’s when the real learning begins.

Who should attend?

All senior leaders, CEOs, Executive Directors, Board members and anyone responsible for their organisations communications who are operating in the glare of public scrutiny and need to manage stakeholders effectively to strengthen their organisations reputation.
