Inside Innovation - A day inside the Climate Innovation District
Exclusive in person event for PIN members (FREE)
We have a great visit planned to the Climate Innovation District in the centre of Leeds and the CITU factory. This is where the first houses are being built in Leeds city centre for over 90 years. The concept of the Climate Innovation District is to create homes in the city, surrounded by green space, and near great schools meaning families can come back into the heart of the city, avoiding the daily commute and living more sustainably. These are now being lived in, so a great time to see how the concept is coming to life.
We will hear from Polly Cook, Chief Officer, Sustainable Energy and Air Quality at Leeds City Council including projects on:
- District heating network linked to the EFW (energy from waste) plant
- Public sector decarbonisation works including a leisure centre
- Net zero social housing in Holtdale
- Area-based retrofit in Holbrook
- Flood alleviation scheme including a moveable weir
And we will take a tour of Yorkshire Housing, the first zero-carbon workspace in Yorkshire - that is also a fun place to be.
