Beyond Net Zero: IKEA people and planet positive transformation story
As most, if not all DIN members are thinking about their future sustainability strategies, we wanted to bring you some practical examples from outside the sector. From businesses who are also grappling with these challenges but making significant progress in changing both operations and culture. One without one the other won’t work.
For this session, we will be joined by our special guest speaker, Greg Lucas, Sustainability Lead for IKEA group across UK and Ireland who will be sharing their transformation into a circular business and being people and planet positive by 2030.
This will be of interest for a number of reasons. Firstly, this is the best example I have come across of a business transforming its operating model to a green one whilst delivering business as usual. But they have also been able to demonstrate that going green does not mean not making a profit. These insights will be invaluable if your organisation is also looking to design its own sustainability strategy, especially at a leadership level.
We will aim to cover areas such as:
- Being a good business is good business.
- Making sustainability affordable and accessible to the many.
- Climate change: why solving the challenge is central to our business model.
- Delivering business as usual whilst moving to planet positive.
- Tackling furniture poverty through a circular economy model.
- Transforming into a circular business to create a better everyday life for the many people.
So, if sustainability is a key aspect of your business strategy, then I promise you will both learn and be inspired by this session.
IKEA have also agreed to host a study visit in the Autumn to the Greenwich flagship store which is the greenest shopping experience in the UK. Attendees on this webinar will receive advance notification to register for places when tickets are available.
